○ The International Association of Korean Language Education is an organization comprised of leading experts in research and education from various educational institutions both domestically and internationally that focus on Korean language education.

Notably, members from over 150 countries play a significant role in language education research and actively contribute to disseminating the findings published in the journal Korean Language Education within their respective countries.

Approximately 2,000 members participate in the annual conference, which reflects the total membership of 2,631. This high participation rate demonstrates the members' passion and commitment to the conference, highlighting the Association's prominence in the field of Korean language education.



2. Main Activities of the Association


- Annual international conferences in July or August, with the 34th conference held in 2024.
- Domestic conferences each year, reaching the 55th conference in 2024.
- One or two annual workshops or training sessions for overseas Korean language educators, starting with the 1st Overseas Korean Language Educators’ Workshop in 2001 and continuing through to the 2023 local workshop for overseas educators.
- Professional development training for Korea Foundation Visiting Professors dispatched to overseas universities. 
- Regional workshops to promote balanced development in Korean language education, with six regional workshops held by 2023.
- Annual workshops to enhance the professionalism of Korean language instructors, totaling six workshops by 2024.
- Korean language educators’ workshops in Jeju, in collaboration with the Korea Foundation, totaling four sessions by 2024
- Publication of Korean Language Education Theory 1, 2, 3, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the International Association for Korean Language Education (2005).
- Publication of 30th Anniversary Commemorative Volume of the International Association for Korean Language Education: A 30-Year Record (2015).
- A recipient of the Korea Research Foundation's grant for the publication of prestigious academic journals in Korea.
